I hate Merlot. I just can't handle dark wines, unless they're a pure berry flavor.

yep, I understand. I have specific tastes. Not all Merlot. My cheap fav is Alice White. I can get it for $7/bottle locally and it doesn't have that harsh bite at the end. But I do prefer dry to sweet.
