Le-mmeme-ing behavior
Apr. 8th, 2006 06:42 pmBecause everyone else is doing it, and I like it - the Wikipedia birthday meme. I will not be posting the obvious event for
September 11
Events:
1962 - The Beatles record their debut single, Love Me Do.
1847 - Stephen Foster's most memorable song, Oh! Susanna, is first performed at a saloon in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
And I was torn between these two:
1981 - The Pee-wee Herman Show airs as a special on HBO. - The weird thing about this? I remember it. It was raunchy, and HILARIOUS! And I was aghast to see it turned into a children's show.
1987 - CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather, angry over being preempted for a tennis match, marches off the set, leaving affiliates with six minutes of an empty news desk.
Births:
1967 - Harry Connick, Jr., American singer - yum! With buttah!
1847 - Thomas Alva Edison, inventor with over 1,000 patents to his name - actually didn't know this one!
Deaths:
1995 - Anita Harding, neurologist
2003 - John Ritter, American actor (b. 1948) - this one hurt me.
