So I watched the Republican Convention last night. Kinda had to, because we stayed at Brent's (where it was COOL!) and he's a hard-headed Republican. I have not decided how I'm going to vote, thus I remain an Independent, and I watched some of the Democratic Convention too. I don't feel I heard enough, but I don't feel I'm biased either.
I was amused by the many photo opportunities that the Palin and McCain families offered last night during various speeches. It seemed a bit choreographed, although simultaneously appearing very casual and friendly. Willow is a lovely girl, of course Cindy McCain is many a man's naughty fantasy, and Piper is cute as a button. And very friendly! Wondered all evening just who she was waving to. Todd is handsome, and all of them chatted quite a bit.
At any rate, Willow fed Trig a bottle while listening to someone speak. He slept of course through most of the festivities, and I think I saw Todd hold him once. What gave me a cynical smile was when Cindy McCain held him for a while. I found that staged for some reason. I guess that's just the bitchy side of me.
I see this morning that Cindy McCain and I have some political beliefs in common. And Sarah Palin and I share one opinion as well. If you're pro-life, then I don't think it's okay to kill a baby if the mother's life is threatened, or in cases of rape.
I'm going to state here and now that I am PRO CHOICE. No question about it, no qualms, no quibbling. I could never choose to abort a baby. I could never encourage a friend or family member to do so. I do not think it is "right". But by God the procedure should be available to the general public. I am not going to make that choice for anyone, and I am not going to treat anyone differently if they do make that choice. That's what PRO CHOICE is all about! It's not about killing babies. It's about maybe not agreeing, but giving someone else a chance to make their own choice. CHOICE CHOICE CHOICE. Dammit, it's a philosophy. And I have it.
You can agree or disagree. I don't care, and I'm not gonna pound you for it. But you'd damned well better not pound me either. I'll spork ya.
