Scarlett's dad called the other night and apologized to her.  She wasn't very impressed.  Whatever.

I have decided to let Scarlett go to mom's this weekend, despite my misgivings about the situation.  I may have to go get her early. If that is the case, then I will do so.  I'm looking forward to the break.  I'm also looking forward to the therapy session with Scarlett's therapist, my mom and my aunt.  Things need to be out in the open.

Very few people are here at work today.  I thought that would allow me to get more done.  However, it's only allowed me to read more live journal without caution.

Learning to work with only six icons is calling on my creative skills.  I just hope I don't lose my pictures.  I should be able to renew soon.

I had Scarlett lay out some chicken for dinner last night, and she was a bit freaked out by the lack of food in our refrigerator.  I had enough to feed us, and have enough to cover the weekend, or a few nights next week, but it's true we are down to bare bones.  I found some money and will spend it on gas, then groceries when Scarlett gets back home.  We're doing fine.  But that's one of the reasons I decided to let her to got mom's all weekend, to save on food.  Scarlett was NOT happy about my decision, but I believe she'll get over that.

Jasmine has taken to sitting on my lap when I sit in the "big chair".  She also prefers crumpled paper to cat toys.  Catnip doesn't prevent the three of them from swatting one another, in fact it makes Suzi a bit more aggressive.  ALLLL the catnip are belong to her!

I think I will try to put plastic over the big windows in our bedrooms this year.  I'd also like to get some serious curtains for Scarlett's room, and possibly for the living room as well.  I might just re-hang the living room curtains in a better arrangement to block more air from coming through.  The rod broke last year, so they're hung with tacks right now.  How white-trash, but at least it's not a blanket in the window.  Whoo whee, yeah I've got class.  lol     Heck, a blanket might be more insulating.   Maybe that old quilt would help....

Okay. Time to turn up the sixties station and get to work.  Maybe this song will play today!

Just don't delete anything and you won't lose it when you renew.

Good point. I'll be sure not to!

Close to the ground. Yes! And I like it that way sometimes. I don't want a multi-million dollar house. And this "spare" time kinda mkes me wanna pare down what I own.

I giggled at the curtain thing. Where I grew up, we had two big rooms that didn't have doors, just large openings between them and the other rooms. We tacked up blankets over their openings to avoid heating and cooling them. Where I live now we've tacked flannel backed vinyl tablecloths, thick beach towels and baby quilts over our bedroom windows behind the blinds to keep out the glare of the moon or sun. :P
Sure, it looked ugly, but it worked.

I hoped I didn't step on any toes with those comments. I think I'm going to go the blanket under the curtains route too. But Scarlett only has a pair of sheers that don't even cover the window. So she's gonna need a bit more.

We rarely look out most of our windows anyway; I might just cover most of them for the winter with some extra layers, too - especially the two broken ones. Talk about white trash - we have two cracked windows and we put duct tape over the cracks to try to keep them from spreading and to give a little extra strength. Still, ya do what ya gotta do!

*HUGS*

While I said, not until Halloween, if you need to, do so.

I just want one thing...pictures. :)

I've still not received your cryptic message. I have the email that tells me you sent one! But nothing otherwise. So I am more than confused.

My cryptic message is this.

"DO NOT OPEN UNTIL HALLOWEEN."

You'll figure out what I mean shortly. :)

Alright then. Since you said I could open early if I needed to, I thought perhaps I'd missed something.

:P

Apparently I haven't missed it yet!

You seem like you can use a boost, so I am suspending my campaign...I mean I am saying you can open it early if you need.

*HUGGAGE*

But again, I want pictures. :)

Towels/old blankets/whatever also work really well stuffed against the cracks under outside doors - it's amazing how much cold air can come in through such a small crack.

Very true. I only have the one, as the other door is a sliding glass model and will be covered with plastic. I HATE doing that, because I love my deck, even in winter. But it's just too expensive to heat the place.

I sort of remember that show - or rather, the theme song with a lead singer with a strong nasal twang singing "Keeeren!"...

Wonder if Darryl played with them then?

Or perhaps I should rephrase this question "Say Stewart, did Darryl play with them at that time?"

If you mean Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra leader Carmen Dragon's son, Darryl, aka 'the Captain', he didn't hook up with them 'til '65. And from the sound, the guys are playing their own instruments; doesn't sound like Brian's using any of The Wrecking Crew on this one.

As Darryl Dragon is the ONLY Darryl who has a connection with The Beach Boys as far as I am aware, then yes - that is indeed who was referenced in the question.

Heh; then I know a Beach Boys story know-one else (save two San Franciscans) knows...

There is a blanket over my bedroom window. It provides EXCELLENT insulation.
