Scarlett is goofing off.  I have to go put on my makeup.  I'm fighting tears this morning, too much stress, and too much worry. 

I'm going to try and take half a day off to go to the hospital. I've been asking for a lot of annual leave lately. I think this will count as FMLA time, but still.....

Gotta go.

Thank you so much! I haven't decided yet what I'm going to do. I'll probably just go home at five from the hospital (if I go early), or pick Scarlett up at day care after I get off work and take her with me. The hospital didn't give us any grief about her being there - I guess she's old enough now.

I talked to mom this morning, she said they're giving her blood thinners, and apparently they've told her that she could be suffering from congestive heart failure. She hasn't seen a doctor yet, tho. I told her to be sure and ask about the potassium. I'll probably have to remind her, too.

Wait, wait, wait. They're giving her blood thinners but she hasn't seen a doctor yet? Does not compute. Someone signed off on this. Maybe a PA or something, but the prescription of drugs necessitates a caregiver to be held responsible. Are you saying that she was prescribed controlled meds without being examined? By whom? Where is she? Please tell me General or W&C. Although I'd prefer General. And if you're listed as next of kin, you have a right to speak with this caregiver as long as your mom doesn't say otherwise. Well, kinda. But it usually works that way. What can I do? If it helps, I'm also a beast when it comes to communicating with insurance companies. Used to be my job and I was damn good at it.

I appreciate it Courtney. My stepdad is probably next of kin, but I always try to get the scoop from doctors because mom's mind isn't what it used to be. I think someone in the ER probably prescribed the thinners, I dunno. She's since seen her regular GP, a lung specialist (whom I talked with) and a heart guy.

She's at Thomas, which really isn't too bad. I'm just grateful she didn't go to Putnam.
