TELL ME!!

IS IT TRUE?

Is it POSSIBLE that a man
can think a
woman is pretty
or even
BEAUTIFUL

and never tell her?

Never once say it out loud?

IS IT????

If I had a dollar for every time a guy who liked me, thought I was pretty and such never said anything for whatever reason and I found out later, I could take you out to lunch and we could both have a few drinks

I'll bring my dollar for every time a guy said he wanted to fuck me rather than take me on a date, and we'll go buy a house in Bimini after our drinks.

I'll bring a dollar for every time a guy told me that he valued my friendship too much (after fucking me of course) to have a relationship with me and we can hire a few mambos to service us when we need it!

YES!!!

And then we can spend that dollar for every guy who thought about us while they sat at home alone jacking off and buy the government of the island!!

OMG!!! That seriously should have had a do not be drinking your coffee while reading this disclaimer on it!

Hell we could have enough money to be the dictators of the island! Build shrines in our goddess like images so they can just do it in public!

Oh yes its true. In fact in my expierence its more likly that a guy won't tell a girl that he likes her.

They should all be beaten, to within an inch of their lives. Even if a woman downplays her appearance intending to emphasize her intelligence or talents instead, she deserves to hear that someone thinks she's beautiful.

I can't speak for other men, but I don't tell a lot of women I think their beautiful because I think so many women are beautiful and if one girl hears me telling another girl then she won't feel special when I tell her. Also the constant "Oh no i'm not stop" from women discourages me to no end and if its continued when I tell them I stop entirely not wanting to waste my breath on attempting to explain something to someone who would only dispute it.

You can't even attempt to change decades of instructed self-deprecation. No one expects you to try. You don't have to explain, or argue, and you don't have to make every woman believe you. When the time comes and you find one that is more special than the rest, then you can tell her HOW she is more special. In the meantime, they need to hear it Arthur. Even if they don't believe it.

Hey sweetie, in my lifetime, I have found women to be very beautiful or pretty and didn't say anything cause some women I found kinda downplayed it as a way of thinking I was trying to get them in bed.
But I have also in my lifetime found more "beauty" in a woman's heart as well as in her appearance.

Date: 2006-06-16 12:27 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] sapphirescarlet.livejournal.com
But did you tell her so? Because the crucial point of this question is DID YOU TELL HER??

Women need to know. NEED I TELL YOU. NEED

From: (Anonymous)
Oh yeah, I have TOLD a woman that she is pretty, etc and had them respond both ways, #1)they thought I was trying to get them in bed, or #2)they would say Thank You cause it made the lady feel good about herself.
And I have not said anything at times because I figured they KNEW they were pretty or beautiful.

I don't want to come across as seeming rude to women, but from a woman's point, how often should a guy say they are pretty, etc?
All the time? Some of the time? At the "right" time? Anytime? :-)

Depends on the situation and the woman. But mostly the situation.

If she's YOUR woman, she needs to hear it every day.

If you see her in a store, and she makes eye contact and smiles, she knows. If you're standing next to her in line, and things are quiet say it then. If she says thank you, say you're welcome. If she doesn't, just shrug it off.

If your woman is WITH YOU? Might not want to say anything, unless you know she's cool with it.

I am a nice guy, really, but to just tell a woman she looks lovely, pretty, etc, I'm nervous as hell. *grins*
When the SO is with me, I will tell her, like if we are going out to eat, a movie, etc she looks great, pretty, whatever. But, unfort. I don't do this ALL the time.

Absolutely. There are people who I think are devastatingly attractive, but I'd never tell them. They're coupled up or otherwise engaged or totally not interested in me, so why tell them that I think they are God's gift to people-who-fancy-women? They probably know that anyway.

Date: 2006-06-16 01:50 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] sapphirescarlet.livejournal.com
Exercising judgement in whom you tell is of course to be expected. However, I suspect there are multitudes of women out there who never hear it, because every man assumes that she #1-knows, #2-doesn't fancy him, #3-will slap him if he is so base as to be observant of her physical attractiveness.

And they never hear it.

And it is a tragedy, I assure you.

On the contrary, young lady. I'm an idealist at heart. However, I can't be entirely impractical, because my wife and our three children are depending on me. A family can limit the practical (no pun intended) scope of our idealism.

I have before.

Sometimes when I'm out and about and see people, I look them dead in the eye and see what they do - guys or gals.

Its good when they stare back and give you the look... heh..

Or they look and raise their eyebrows lol.

*shrugs*

Sometimes telling them is hard.. because you need to be in the right situation. I wouldn't do it sat on a crowded bus unless there was something that stirred up that line of conversation - even if I did want to tell a person that.

If it were me and a person alone somewhere or in a suitable place - I always imagine "the Lake" (from HP) for some reason... scenic and relaxing. I would feel more at ease to tell someone.

Sorry I've rambled.

It is true!!! Sometimes we do think we look pretty but not because we think or know we are pretty, but for you (men/boys/guys). to see that you notice us doing something special and that we do look pretty or beautiful, we still LONG to hear that. We want to know we DO attract you in our physical beauty!!! It is even more special, of course when you are very TRUE about it, and we can tell, yes, situations do matter.... but I am sure somewhere it would work, especially if you do think so. Do you like it when we compliment you??

Yes, I understand your need Anita! I feel you! If I didn't hear it, I would feel I wasn't attractive even though I thought I was... even things known in life, need to be said, could you imagine if we quit telling our loved ones we love them, they may "know" but to hear it still is touching and keeps something burning....

Guys, say the words :) and girls keep your part :D

hee hee!

Does it matter, I know it isn't the same...my mom and I think you are beautiful! : D

Love ya!
Steph

From: [identity profile] sexibitionyst.livejournal.com
I've done that before, plenty of times. Sometimes, the time/place just isn't right. When I do say something to someone, I'll usually comment on something someone is wearing or just say something like, "You look nice" or I might say something about what they're wearing. That's if I don't know them.

If I'm friends with a woman or I'm dating someone, then what I say will be more personal, usually.

Date: 2006-06-17 08:04 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] another-voyeur.livejournal.com
It's absolutely possible. Mostly because I've never felt like that's a compliment that lends itself to no ulterior motivations. It's hard for me to think a woman could hear me say "I think you're beautiful" and not think "He wants to sleep with me". And whether that's true or not, there are times when it may or may not be appropriate.

That said, there are women in my life I've said that to, and a few that I haven't said that to. It really does depend on who.

Well. It's tempting to just say "Aren't you an asshole." But I don't know you and I'm not sure why you're here, and I don't normally verbally assault new visitors. However I must admit it doesn't say much for you.
