A meme stolen from [personal profile] tinhuviel

It's fun, so do it, dammit!

  1. Pick one thing from my interest list you like and tell me why.
  2. Pick one thing from my interest list you don’t like and tell me why.
  3. Pick one thing from my interest list you were surprised to see there and tell me why.
  4. Pick one thing from my interest list you don’t understand and I’ll explain it to you.
  5. Pick one thing that’s not on my interest list but you think it should be there.

1). 'thunderstorms'. they don't frighten me, as they have some women I've met ('I just sit in a rocking chair and cry' - actual quote), they are a treat here, as the Cascadia rainshadow climate is so mild that they are almost a rarity in these parts. They are such fuel for the imagination, as you can picture yourslef in so many adventure-fantasy scenarios while one rages on.

2). 'kinky'. If that means anal anything, I just don't see the attraction. I'm not interseted in either giving or receving; it's not an erotic oriface to me.

3). 'Michael Crichton.' I'm just not sure how you feel about SF, which is a big chunk of his bread and butter, still.

4). 'sohia'? as in Loren?

5). Bluegrass or banjo, as you've mentioned at least one of those favourably.

2 - Kinky has many meanings, not all can be traced to anal.

3 - adore sci-fi. I'm a Trek:TNG fan from way back, love Crichton's tendency to weave sci-fi into the everyday and convince me.

4 - Sophia, as in wisdom incarnate, the wise bride of Solomon, Queen of Wisdom, and The Holy Spirit of Wisdom. http://northernway.org/sophia.html

5 - true. both might well be listed, although I fear if I list banjos I will have to fend off the question of inbreeding. lol

1. Marion Zimmer Bradley. She responsible for the best Pagan novel ever written.
2. Lingerie. Honestly, I don't understand the point. It's uncomfortable, inconvenient, and difficult to wash.
3. Unrequited love. I can't imagine anyone being interested in that. It's too painful to consider. Been there...don't ever want to go there again.
4. Who is Tim Wilson?
5. Self-respect.

2 - LOL Too true, and most times I agree. I just like how I feel in it sometimes.

3 - I wonder if perhaps its time for that to come off this list. Where once I romanticized it, now to think of it makes me angry.

4 - Four Words - Church League Softball Fistfight. http://www.capitol-nashville.com/index.cfm?method=artist.artistBio&artistID=27 Tim Wilson is one of the funniest southerners on the comedy circuit. He looks NOTHING like his voice, and absolutely cracks me the fuck up.

5 - Excellent point. Perhaps it will replace unrequited love.

1. Muppets - Because I love them. I love their world. And Miss Piggy is hot :)
2. Um...hard one. Of all the ones I know, I like them.
3. I'll say gnosticism. But I'm not 'surprised surprised' just 'joy surprised'. or something.
4. jimmy buffett
5. Billy Connolly. Given some of the comedy you've got there, I think you'd really appreciate him. Well, assuming you can get past the accent :)

3 - yay!
4 - Have you never heard the song "Margaritaville"? Or do you just not agree with my fondness for his music? (You seem to have a great fondness for that era, as do I. I'm a bit surprised.)
5 - ADORE HIM! ESPECIALLY the accent! I love them, can sit and listen to one all day, and being the little chimp that I truly am, will eventually attempt to mimic any that I hear. I don't have room on my interests lists for all the comedians I love.

4. I've never heard of him, which is the only reason I asked.

I'm sure I've heard that song...but not his name. Time to do some digging. Damn you! ;)

0) I think a more interesting question would be how we came to look at your interest list...

I was certainly drawn in by your icon that i saw in a comment to a mutual friend. Your stare through the camera drew me to look further.

1) Pick one thing from my interest list you like and tell me why.

That *I* like... fellatio. i find it a very intimate form of sex. It is so personal that there is no denying that there is a bond between the participants, almost cock worship (and this is a distinction from a blowjob, which I see as one sided, mechanical)

2) Pick one thing from my interest list you don’t like and tell me why.

ancient history - I have no aptitude for learning strange names and dates. I'm much more a math and science kind of guy

3) Pick one thing from my interest list you were surprised to see there and tell me why.

hard core porn - I always find it surprising to see this in a woman's list. I see it as far more a male thing. I would expect it to be more along the lines of "making love" and cuddling after.

4) Pick one thing from my interest list you don’t understand and I’ll explain it to you.

original characters - I have no idea what you mean by this

5) Pick one thing that’s not on my interest list but you think it should be there.

self-assurance - From coming to know you you certainly have it.

2 - I don't do the 'names and dates' thing either. I prefer fictionalized history.

3 - mmmmmmmmmgawd LOVE IT. I despise the phrase 'making love'.

4 - Its a phrase from fan-fiction regarding characters that an author inserts into a story that aren't found in 'canon' or the original author's story.

5 - Another good choice, along the lines of tinhuviel's 'self-esteem'. And one I'll consider.

Ah, like when other authors use Asimov's laws of robotics or some similar situations with Heinlein or Niven

Yes, both appropriate for you. Do consider it.

1. Siamese Cats. I'm too allergic to have my own cat, but if I did, it would have to be a Siamese or Himalayan. I have Siamese Mojo. Even crabby elderly lady Siameses will velcro onto me when near them.

2. Unrequited Love. I want to be requited, dammit!

3. Fred/George Weasley. I thought I was unusual in my Weasley Sandwich wantings...

4. Sophia. As in the Golden Girls? What gives?

and 5. SNAPE!!!!

4 - see the link on my answer to retrorider 55. Sophia, as in the goddess of wisdom, thought to be one of Solomon's wives.

5 - eh, I don't do greasy-haired semi-evil. I'm more a Weasley/Finnegan/Oliver Wood freak. Well, with a little Ginny/Draco thrown in.

1. being myself- because I am done being anybody else.

2. damn- nothing I don't like.

3. disney- I guess because I'm not really much of a disney fan anymore, I am always surprised when someone else is.

4. who are Robert Earl Keen and Andrew Greeley?

5. unconditional love- because you give it, and you deserve it.

3 - I just adore Lilo and Stitch. That's the main reason.

4 - Robert Earl Keen - comedian-singer. He's hard to explain, you'd have to hear him. One of his songs is Dear Abby -
Dear Abby, Dear Abby, you won't believe this,
My stomach makes noises whenever I kiss;
My girlfriend tells me it's all in my head;
But my stomach tells me to write you instead.

Andrew Greeley is a fantastic fiction author - I HIGHLY recommend him, especially three novels in particular - God Game Lord Of The Dance and Contract With An Angel he's a Catholic priest and professor at Notre Dame, and writes Catholicism in a light that makes me wish I were one. Deep, and twisted and still searching for the light. Just LOVE him.

5 - another EXCELLENT suggestion. Thanks sugar.

2. Pick one thing from my interest list you don’t like and tell me why.

-The Simpsons- I find them annoying.

3. Pick one thing from my interest list you were surprised to see there and tell me why.

-meanage a trois- I figured you as a "one on one" kind of person

4. Pick one thing from my interest list you don’t understand and I’ll explain it to you.

5. Pick one thing that’s not on my interest list but you think it should be there.
