The power that be's (yes, it's one woman in power here) has decided that we're not going to be permitted to wear denim any more. Not only no more jeans on Friday, but no denim. Period. I can't afford to dress any better than I do on the salary they pay me. I haven't had a genuine raise in five years. As I mentioned just recently, I received an incremental raise, as did all state employees, that amounted to about $40 more a pay period, and moved me just above the 'free lunch and free daycare' line.

I'm so tired of this shit. I'm not sure I can shape up my behavior enough to maintain a job anywhere else. There's only one consolation - that you fat girls will understand. I don't have to wear jeans to be comfy - I can wear stretchy cotton leggings and feel just as good or better. Not as flattering or attractive as the more expensive slacks, but they're not asking me to dress well. Nor are they paying me to do so. The leggings are cheap and come in a multitude of colors. Problem with cheap clothes is they need to be replaced frequently, and you have to be constantly vigilant to the whims of the manufacturer - they can eliminate a style that works for you as soon as you find it.

So back to the leggings, I guess.

I'm probably going to have to purchase a bunch of new shoes, too. I bet sandals will be the next thing to go.

That DOES suck. hey, i feel a photo shoot with JUST leggings coming on 8^)

it's tough to redo a wardrobe due to their whims AND have a kid that grows out of things all too often AND try to maintain a life. Don't they know not many people have disposable income these days?

Any idea the situation that caused the change? Some guy play plumber at the copier? hell, we've got people in shorts and T-shirts and sandals here year round (silly geeks 8^)

Jim (also in black jeans but a dress shirt to go out tonight)

No clue what prompted it, really. But I'm sure rumors will drift down. It's hard to say, but our governor doesn't have much regard or respect for his employees either. He's actually suggested and been quoted by the media that we all shop for our clothes at Gabriel Brothers. (a local seconds and damaged goods warehouse)

That you look like you do or should?

BTW: I totally support your Wal-Mart boycott. Haven't been there in 3.5 years and I know there is stuff I have needed that I could have gotten there cheaper/quicker.

I hope this is a phased in policy. Can't expect it to take place overnight.

That we should.

And no such luck with the phased-in business. Effective Immediately.
