I got in to see a new psychiatrist today. And she is AWESOME! I am thrilled and I am more relaxed already. She is very spiritually minded, trained in Eastern medicine, Reiki, and uses the book Energy Medicine by Donna Eden to educate her patients. She's a member of the Association of Comprehensive Energy Psychology as well as holding her doctorate in counseling psychology, a master's in nutrition and a bachelor's in education. I'm especially listing this for your information, Liv, because I know as a doctor, you'll appreciate her broad scope of education, knowledge and technique. She taught me a couple of very simple accupressure techniques to help with my current stressors and my blood pressure, seems to want to take an aggressive approach to helping me work through my issues, including the physical ones, and she BELLYDANCES! So she's referred me to an instructor already, and I'm going to look into lessons for me and Scarlett together. I KNOW Dr. G was a wise choice. I can't wait to get further into all this information she's given me.

I'm on my way out the door, and this afternoon is going to be a great day. What a change from this morning, when I was unable to stop the waves of tears that seemed to constantly well up inside. I'm still thinking the same thoughts, but they don't hurt quite as much. I know this is an emotional upswing based on the whole 'new doctor' thing, but it feels really good to have her in my corner.

I knew someone who took up bellydancing at 44; you can make good $$ at that professionally (she also knows the answer to a question posed by [livejournal.com profile] covertamerican).

I wish I could afford counselling, but even the cut rate benevolent society ones want $65/hr. And I don't want some green 21 year-old intern from the University Med faculty, I want someone with some life experience.

I feel so out of the loop regarding the cradle Retro robbed... or is it, robbing? *sighs*

I'm well impressed with the info on your Doc as well!! :) Sounds like she's able to treat the whole person as opposed to a set of symptoms.

Today, I had a bit of a downturn in mood before I went to see my Shamanic Teacher. I think it's time to hit the Cod Liver Oil again. I'm sadly lacking in sunlight which results in a bad deficiency in vitamin D in the brain, resulting in short term memory loss and horrid depression.

While it doesn't make my situation any better, it makes ME physically able to handle my life and that means so much.

Kudos! :)

Full spectrum lights. Dr. G has insisted that I look into at least two. Honey, in the British Isles, I'm surprised they're not required in every home. You guys NEVER see the sun.

As for the loop, I'm going strictly on psychic intuition. And the flattery angle. LOL

Too true about the sunshine. No one warned me about that when I moved here. Yes, I had visited, but 2 1/2 months here hadn't given me a bad case of SADD.

I only learned last winter that most of the older population were put on Cod Liver Oil as children and it's sold over the counter at my grocery store!! £2.50 could have saved me so much misery!

Oh well, now I know.

I dunno, but you might want to look up the Association of Comprehensive Energy Psychology. They could tell you if there's someone in your area, I bet.

I am SO excited about the belly dancing! Scarlett's kind of "ehhh, I dunno mom" But I asked her to at least take one lesson.

She sounds wonderful hon. I'm very pleased for you and please tell me what bellydancing is like - I keep threatening to do it myself but I'll wait until I have tits to jiggle~!

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only holistically-inclined practitioner out there. I wish there were many more of us.

Your corner is getting very full now, with so many of us already standing there in it for you.

You won't have much longer to wait, then! I'll be sure to let you know how it goes.

I truly appreciate all the support I receive from my friends here.
