Have you ever encountered someone online, or on lj, who immediately made your grind your teeth? Who be-bopped into your 'life' and started chatting away as if they'd just come back from a potty break, instead of being a new aquaintance? Someone who didn't quite fit into your realm of friends, who perhaps was too immature, but who started offering advice and intimacy immediately upon meeting you, rather than waiting a bit to see what you were like?

I'm trying my damnedest to be mature and distant, to overlook things that grate on me in the interest of preserving someone's feelings. I'm trying to be cool and urbane. Despite my inner child screaming "Go away!", I am being a magnanimous adult. And no, if you ask me if I'm talking about you, I will not admit it. So stop being paranoid. Its not you.
