Is hot dog chili the same thing as a chili dog? Or is it chili made with cut-up hot dogs in it? I'm confused.

Good point. Hot dog chili is the chili or sauce made to go on a hotdog which is in a bun. It is the only ingredient in a chili dog in this part of the country. (A chili dog has no frankfurter around here. Does everywhere else.)
