Cats cost money  -  and I still don't have any.  

I'm pretty sure Suzi has worms now. Didn't have them at the vet, or so they said.  

My brain wants to break if I think about it too much.   What to do, what to do. 

Well, I guess I'll go do work. That's what to do.

Why do you think she has worms? Did they do a fecal sample test?

Because I see the little white strings in her poo. In the box, on the floor as it falls off her - because she jumps out of the box as soon as the first lump hits the litter. And I see them on her fur around her tail. It's very long so poo clings to it sometimes if she does that "jump out fast" thing. And she scoots her butt on the carpet. Other cat doesn't do that.

I really don't know if they did a sample test at the vet or not. I just know they told me she didn't have worms - that neither of them did.

They must not have done a sample test, or it would have shown up. I don't know how they can dclare she doesn't have worms without one.

Is there a low-cost place you can take a sample? The treatment is really simple but usually they won't give you the meds without a test.

I really don't know. I've never found a low-cost vet anywhere. And I can't afford the meds, OR the test. Just can't.

I had the same problem with my cat. I knew he had worms but the vet would swear he didn't. I still can't figure out how one misses white things dropping out of the butt.

might be tapeworms. they're spread by fleas, so if she has fleas, that's a high possibility. every summer i have to give newman a dose of drontal to kill them, because even with the advantage, he'll still get a few on him that live long enough to give him a tapeworm. they break off in little pieces and they look like dried rice. it's gross.

i've heard that giving them tobacco kills the worms, but i've never tried.

We got rid of the fleas - and she had Advantage at the vet. (Or Revolution? Can't remember)

There is always OTC medicine. It's the route I went when the vets couldn't come back with a response that he had worms. I knew he did, I saw he did and yet the vets did not.

Pet stores sell them and they usually come in capsule form. Make sure to follow the directions (obviously) if that's the route you decide to go. In the end it worked and he didn't have worms anymore.

I will say that it should be a last resort and if you aren't sure what specific type of worm your cat has, try to get one that covers as many as possible.
