Self-love is very tenuous always if it's not internally motivated. Which is why I *cringed* when I read that you 'owe' it to him. But then again, I know how hard to is to make yourself believe you're beautiful and wonderful without outside help, especially if you've spent long years believing the opposite. It's a delicate balance and a struggle. I'm right there with you.
