Holy shades of fascism, Batman!

This has not yet directly impacted my Department - but it is general consensus that it will, in time, become the policy of our own illustrious regime. The majority of it is standard office-speak rhetoric, but the business about "All employees also must stand up whenever Manchin (the governor), his staff, Ferguson or any other Cabinet secretary walks into a room." has sent chills through many of our friendly, well-mannered, respectful employees. It's only the latest in a long list of expectations that have been handed down since the news that the new leader of our Department would not be the one so many of us looked on as a reprieve. Instead it came down to the new Governor's third choice, allowing a leader to remain who had re-organized our Department so haphazardly that it took us months to learn who reported to whom, and saw useful contributing members of the supervising class relegated to token positions to wait out retirement.

 

I've never been so frightened to work in Government.
