I have been to the mountain....
AND I HAVE SEEN THE FACE OF GOD.
AND GOD IS SWEDISH.
Oh.
My.
God.
We were there when they opened the doors at ten this morning.
We sat at Steak & Shake at 1:00 p.m.
waiting for a waitress to notice us
and as I looked into the faces
of my mother and my child
I realized...
we had just endured quite possibly the most traumatic experience of our lives.
I swear to you, they looked like they'd just seen a tornado.
And the tornado was red, and black, and silver and white
with purple
and green
and strange floral prints.
At least I think they were floral.
My mother will NEVER set foot in another IKEA.
EVER.
Personally?
I can't wait to go back.
Ohmygod.
By the by. I have SHITLOADS to tell you people. But my daughter is still washing IKEA out of her hair, and I need to get her out of the shower. It's been 30 minutes already.

Even if I have to step on tiny baby Jesuses to get to them.

And you would love the conservatory, it's Victorian, and has gorgeous architecture. I'm going to post some of that this evening I think. I thought of you while snapping pics there.

My friend Matt had been telling me for some time - years, maybe - about the wonders of IKEA. His job requires him to go to Sacramento periodically, so he would take that opportunity to do a little retail therapy. I don't get to Sac too often. But then when I went to the Wine Country in September, I came back via Sac and stopped at IKEA. Everything Matt said was true, and more. I couldn't believe it. Now I am trying to convince Gary that a trip to IKEA will pay for itself. $6 lace curtains! Cinnamon rolls! $1.99 giant wine glasses!
