Poem from last night:

Why does man love rules?
Why does mankind crave structure?
From time out of mind man has fought
the confinement imposed
by another man.
When will we heed
the rebels in our midst?
Why can't we just
be?
And let be?
Love is the lesson
this earth is given.
Practice with me.

[personal profile] blue_leaf  I've been reading your Yahoo 360 blog, and enjoying it very much.  Why can't people understand that Brahma is Yahweh and Allah?  So many Christian teachings put fear inside a person, fear that if you say one name instead of another you'll burn with eternal damnation. There is a holy mystery within Christianity - more accurately within God-knowledge - The Creator loves the whole world, and wants the whole world to know Him.  Yet there have been millions upon millions of persons who have never heard the Western Word of God.  Was God willing to create those beautiful peoples and sacrifice them to their own ignorance? How can that be love? Wouldn't love give them God-knowledge in a way that they could comprehend?  I want to believe that my God would.

This week I've seen analyses of the Protestant belief system that has put disappointment in my heart.  Christianity has hurt so many people. Other belief systems have hurt untold millions as well. But because we live in a country that is primarily Protestant, that was the belief system which hurt this person. What are my countrymen doing? Why are they so passionate about war and hatred? Where have these "norms" come from?

They aren't learning love.  And I still believe that is what we are hear to learn.

Christianity hasn't hurt people - it's Christians that do.

Like the songwriter T-Bone Burnett said, it's amazing that Christianity has survived 2,000 years of Christians. (And he's born-again.)

Very true.

Excellent post.

Why thank you.

Wow thank you for the "shout out".
I think that people differentiate their "God" from all other peoples "God"
because they feel somhow threatened. Some people believe what they are taught and that is all they can see. Others, like me , question and receive answers through experience. Jesus was like that, he questioned the traditions of men over the love of God and others. His teachings were very simple. Love God and love your neighbor as yourself. How easy can that be?
Religious authorities saw religion as a way to control people, just think about our sex lives and the threat of burning in hell forever. How does that version fit with an all loving God? It does not and it is called fear motivation. They added their own views and means of control to a simple loving philosophy. The council of Nicea actually voted on what to include in the Bible. They threw out anything opposing their own limited view. All I am saying is find out for yourself. Trust in your own path to God. Seek , be diligent and refuse to accept anyone elses criticism of what you feel is your spiritual belief.

The more I have learned about the Council of Nicaea, the more disgruntled I've become with the Protestant (and Catholic) faith. There are a lot of similarities between Christ's teachings and Hinduism. The similarities make a lot of people view other beliefs with skepticism, but they draw me to conclusions that the Higher Knowledge (God, our Creator, etc) is making itself known everywhere.

God is universal. How could it be otherwise?
There is One spirit and many roads to union with that spirit.
How can people say that there is only one way to the absolute?
There are as many ways to God as there are beings in the universe.

I was just thinking of you! And singing "Big Butter Jesus". *chuckle*

I saw this sort of thing every day when I was attending my Baptist church regularly. And I still see it, when I attend with my mother. Why are you wasting your time telling a child her mother is going to hell because she questions the theories of Gnosticism, when you could be teaching that child to care for the poor around her?
