GODDAMMIT I"M SO FUCKING MAD!!!

I've searched and searched and can NOT find that list of songs I made - that I felt described me or whatever.

I remember it had the following on it:

I'm No Angel  Gregg Allman
I Need a Lover   John Mellancamp
Jolene   Dolly Parton
Find Me Somebody To Love   Queen
Misty   Ray Stevens
Rhythm Of My Heart   Rod Stewart
Mysterious Ways   U2
Little Less Conversation   Elvis
Brandy   Looking Glass
Miracles   Jefferson Airplane
The Other Side of Life  Moody Blues
She's Hot To Go   Lyle Lovett
Play The Game   Queen
Words Of Love    Mama Cass
Brick House   Commodores

I KNOW I'm forgetting things!!!  It was after Myria and Teena added me, but before I went to their house to meet them. Hmmmm, that should help some. Let me check my stats again....

If any of you can remember, or can find it, pleasepleaseplease let me know.  I think [profile] smiteboy will make the cd for me.

Marlene on the Wall - Suzanne Vega
A Hundred Lovers - Timbuk 3
Anything Can Happen - Was (Not Was)
Blue Martini - The New Morty Show
Cell Block Tango - Chicago Soundtrack
Brick House - Commodores
Coyote - Joni Mitchell [very much so, in fact]
Messed Around - Squeeze
One Hour Mama - Lavay Smith and Her Red-Hot Skillet Lickers
West Virginia Fantasies - Chicago [an instrumental, but the title...]

Probably more, but that was from a first pass through the iPod.

I've never heard any of them, except Brick House. I DO love that song! The others, well, I'd just have to hear 'em.

They're all worth finding. The Cell Block Tango is from the movie Chicago, which I really liked, and should be easy to find.

Here are lyrics for the most relevant two:

"A Hundred Lovers" - Timbuk 3 (from the album of the same name)
A hundred lovers dressed in red
A hundred lovers lying in my bed
A hundred lovers, my big suprise
A hundred lovers peer through her eyes
A hundred lovers, that's what I said
A hundred lovers dance in her head
Demons taunt her, spirits guide her
A hundred lovers all inside her
She's 23 goddesses, a couple of Queens
Half a dozen sirens of the silver screen
And 69 bathing beauties lying in the sun
A hundred lovers rolled into one
A hundred lovers all looking fine
A hundred lovers all mine
A hundred lovers with all their charms
A hundred lovers lie in my arms
She's 23 goddesses, a couple of Queens
(Latifah and Divine)
Half a dozen sirens of the silver screen
(Oh so fine)
And 69 bathing beauties lying in the sun
A hundred lovers rolled into one
A hundred lovers lie in my arms

"Coyote" - Joni Mitchell (from the album "Hejira")

No regrets Coyote
We just come from such different sets of circumstance
I'm up all night in the studios
And you're up early on your ranch
You'll be brushing out a brood mare's tail
While the sun is ascending
And I'll just be getting home with my reel to reel...
There's no comprehending
Just how close to the bone and the skin and the eyes
And the lips you can get
And still feel so alone
And still feel related
Like stations in some relay
You're not a hit and run driver, no, no
Racing away
You just picked up a hitcher
A prisoner of the white lines on the freeway

We saw a farmhouse burning down
In the middle of nowhere
In the middle of the night
And we rolled right past that tragedy
Till we turned into some road house lights
Where a local band was playing
Locals were up kicking and shaking on the floor
And the next thing I know
That Coyote's at my door
He pins me in a corner and he won't take "No!"
He drags me out on the dance floor
And we're dancing close and slow
Now he's got a woman at home
He's got another woman down the hall
He seems to want me anyway
Why'd you have to get so drunk
And lead me on that way
You just picked up a hitcher
A prisoner of the white lines of the freeway

I looked a Coyote right in the face
On the road to Baljennie near my old home town
He went running thru the whisker wheat
Chasing some prize down
And a hawk was playing with him
Coyote was jumping straight up and making passes
He had those same eyes - just like yours
Under your dark glasses
Privately probing the public rooms
And peeking thru keyholes in numbered doors
Where the players lick their wounds
And take their temporary lovers
And their pills and powders to get them thru this passion play

No regrets, Coyote
I just get off up aways
You just picked up a hitcher
A prisoner of the white lines on the freeway

Coyote's in the coffee shop
He's staring a hole in his scrambled eggs
He picks up my scent on his fingers
While he's watching the waitresses' legs
He's too far from the Bay of Fundy
From Appaloosas and Eagles and tides
And the air conditioned cubicles
And the carbon ribbon rides
Are spelling it out so clear
Either he's going to have to stand and fight
Or take off out of here
I tried to run away myself
To run away and wrestle with my ego
And with this flame
You put here in this Eskimo
In this hitcher
In this prisoner
Of the fine white lines
Of the white lines on the free, free way

Wow. Those are impressive. Thanks very much for including those lyrics. You've really been paying attention, David, and I'm flattered that you are reading me so well.

Oh, and this one...

Originally recorded by Ida Cox - it's one of those "naughty" blues tunes from way back...

"One Hour Mama"

I've always heard that haste makes waste
So I believe in takin' my time
The highest mountain can't be raced
It's something you must slowly climb
I want a slow and easy man
He needn't ever take the lead
Cause I work on that long-time plan
And I ain't a-lookin' for no speed

I'm a one hour mama
So no one minute papa
Ain't the kind of man for me
Set your alarm clock papa
One hour, that's proper
Then love me like I like to be

I don't want no lame excuses
'Bout my lovin' bein' so good
That you couldn't wait no longer
Now I hope I'm understood

I'm a one hour mama
So no one minute papa
Ain't the kind of man for me

I can't stand no greenhorn lover
Like a rookie goin' to war
With a load of big artillery
But don't know what it's for

He's got to bring me a reference
With a great long pedigree
And must prove he's got endurance
Or he don't mean that to me

I don't like no crowin' rooster
What just kicks a lick or two
Action is the only booster
Of just what my man can do

I don't want no imitation
My requirements ain't no joke
Cause I've got pure indignation
For a guy what's lost his stroke

I'm a one hour mama
So no one minute papa
Ain't the kind of man for me
Set your alarm clock papa
One hour, that's proper
Then love me like I like to be

I may want love for one hour
Then decide to make it two
Takes an hour before I get started
Maybe three 'fore I'm through

I'm a one hour mama
So no one minute papa
Ain't the kind of man for me
