Your Score: Juniper Berries

You scored 100% intoxication, 0% hotness, 75% complexity, and 75% craziness!

You are Juniper Berries! You're a drunk. No, really. Cool it with the hooch. Just kidding. You're really good at adding flavour to boring old life. You can be astringent at times, but once the harshness passes, you're quite relaxing. And you smell good, too.

Post a picture of one of your bookshelves -- one shelf, two, part of a shelf, whatever, as long as the titles are readable. Choose whatever shelf you want: your porn collection, your textbooks, your favorite novels, whatever.

First two shelves, newest bookshelf. Bought when Orenthal
decided to start gifting me! Yes, I had to have new shelves to
hold them, and some others I've purchased at book sales
since then. I luves me a book sale. I haven't read any of these yet.

Top shelf of the book case my stepdad made me. Several Bibles
one of which is my grandmother's, and lotsa God-books. I ADORE
historical fiction, especially written in Biblical times. I want more
detail than the KJV will ever offer.

Most the photos that line this second shelf are laid down for these
next shots. These are some of my favorites, mixed in with more
God-stuff.  If you've never read a John Steinbeck, I highly recommend
starting with The Winter Of Our Discontent. It's priceless.

Yes, your eyes do not deceive you. That's three copies of Lord of the Dance on the shelf there.
It's one of my favorite books of ALL TIME, and when I lost my copy, I was devastated.
SO devastated that I bought myself a paperback then purchased two hard backs
at library book sales two years in a row before I was able to remind myself that I didn't
need any more.

I also recommend God Game by Andrew Greeley. He's got a
fascinating insight into what might be the mind of God. He's a great

Otherwise, I've been having a pretty damned good weekend. Scarlett and I saw Mr. Magorium's Magic Emporium, and it was far less stupid and silly than I expected. Of course Dustin Hoffman is brilliant, and I could watch Jason Bateman read the newspaper.

I've done some Christmas shopping, and took Scarlett out on her first Black Friday.  Also managed to get her things laid away today at KMart, and there was much rejoicing in my heart.  I was afraid I was going to have to go to Wal-Mart in order to get what she wanted, but no. Thank God and Greyhound KMart was carrying it too. And at a decent price.  There's maybe one more thing I'd like to get her, but they sure as hell didn't have it there.

Now I'm gonna lay down. I've got a couple hours before she gets home, and I'm cold. bleh

Ciao bebbehs.

I don't usually participate in this one because my icons are SO blatant.  But [personal profile] anita_margaritafound some to ask about, so here we go.

Fire:  I decided to change my layout to a fall theme
and these Chihuly pics were perfect with the color scheme.
So I added them to use for fall, will likely delete a couple when winter
comes around.  I call this one fire cause that's what it looks like.
Like I said - blatant.

Sunball:  Again, Chihuly for fall.  The word "Sunball" is funny to me
because Kentuckians use the word instead of "the sun".  I've actually
read the word in poetry written by a Kentucky man, and it's just such a
hillbilly thing.

Mollybird:  I LOVE parrots.  Have raised a couple, one of which was
named Molly.  She looked exactly like this bird. And of course her eyes
dilated like this when she was intensely studying something.  Parrots
are marvelous creatures. It's said that men in Roman times were
given a parrot to train to prove they were capable of commanding men.

Brain Candy:  Again, obvious I think.  But isn't it PRETTY??
Books are magic for me.  I can lose myself in one for hours or days
and the best ones ARE brain candy. Delicious, relaxing, pleasant to
the mind. And even if they don't last long, they leave a delightful mind taste.

Cherheart: This one just cracks me UP!  Cher as the Madonna.  It's brilliant,
because she looks so perfect in the character, and also because she's so
FAR from virginal.  But she IS passionate and a loving person. I use her when
I'm feeling amused and fond of someone.

MmmCheese!:  Mmmm cheese!  One of my favorite foods.

Blue Persian:  The name of the glass sculpture, again Chihuly.  Yes, I'm
obsessed.  Don't care.  I want to TOUCH this stuff!  Someday, brother.

And if you comment here, I'll ask you about seven of yours too!

Comment on this post and I will pick seven of your interests. You then explain them in your journal and re-post.

Andrew Greeley - I stumbled across Andrew Greeley due to an intriguing book cover. He's a novelist, Catholic priest, and sociologist. I am intrigued by his frank expression of sexuality among his characters, I love the way he portrays teenagers and it's clear he loves women. he sometimes speaks of God as a woman, as well as most of the Heavenly Host, and he is fascinated by teenage girls. And no, I don't think that's creepy at all.  I love him. His faith is so down to earth that he's often set an example for my belief.
Fred and George Weasley  - Aaah, the joy of twins. Two characters from the Harry Potter series, mischevious, intelligent, and redheaded. Who could ask for more in a fictional crush?
Kiefer Sutherland - Absolutely Tears. Me. Up.  His voice, his eyes, his hair, his jaw. That smirk, the softness I know is inside. Just. Uhh. I want to fuck him.  Yes I does precious.
Swallowing - *blush*.   It's what I do.  I perform fellatio that causes grown men to weep.  And that's part of the reason why.
Thunderstorms - LOOOOVE THEM!  They refresh me like nothing else.  I think I must absorb nitrates from the air or something.  The louder, and harder the thunder, the happier I am.
WC Fields - Funny, funny man!  You can't be a Mae West fan and not appreciate WC Fields.  He's campy, and hates children. What's not to like?
West Virginia - I love my home.  I've tried to leave, and it feels so wrong that I have been forced to return.  There's a relief that comes over me when I see the hills surround me, crossing the state line.

kids in the hall - Hilarious.  Brilliant comedy, and they've gone on to great things.
kiefer sutherland - see above
avalon - A dream where various beliefs meet.  I first read Mists of Avalon when I was in my 20's. It was nothing more than a fictional account of old beliefs. I read it because I had been engrossed in the King Arthur stories for quite some time, and wanted to know more about his sister.  Avalon satisfied that for me.  When I began to explore more feminine beliefs, the ideas expressed in Zimmer Bradley's books stirred my thoughts. Even though I claim the Christianity as my belief system, it's merely a base for me. I've built upon it to answer my own need for Holy feminine guidance.
magic - I'm a firm believer.  I've never seen it manifested as you see it in the movies, but I've felt myself draw power from the unseen world surrounding me.  I would love to see magic manifested by others.
gnosticism - This is a belief system that fascinates me, and rings remarkably true in my mind.  The belief that knowledge is the way to salvation seems to be the primary basis.  I am still forming an opinion on this belief system.
muppets - Grew up in the 70's.  I followed Kermit the Frog from Sesame Street to The Muppet Show, through his movies. I'm still a huge fan. If I were to request a t.v. series on dvd, it would be The Muppet Show.  (And Laugh-In.)
the beach - Love it. Don't want to live there, but LOVE to visit.  The food is fresher, the air is delightful, the sound of the waves is so soothing.  I love finding shells and other treasure on the beach.  I love catching a thunderstorm while I'm down there. I hate sand in my underwear. But who doesn't?
mynewplace: (HEY!)
I stuck a couple of comments out there on these "love you" memes, and got one of the coolest responses ever.  So now I am bound by honor to return the favor, thus I will do so herewith, yea and verily.

"Reply to this post, and I will list three things I love about you. Maybe more than three. Then repost to your own journal and spread the love."

Those of you who do not play will receive the soccer boy of fuck-you.

And a TMI Tuesday meme caught my attention:

1. Who did you think you would marry in elementary school?
Mike Grimm. He was my dream man.

2. Which muppet is your favorite? Why?
Kermie.  He's the great all-around guy.

3. Which politician would you most like to screw? [For pleasure or revenge]
Bill Clinton. For pleasure.

4. How did you first find the g-spot?
I experienced it without knowing precisely what it was from the beginning of sex, at age 15. I'm not sure when I realized what it was.

5. What is the best costume you've ever worn?
Right after I had my breast reduction I dressed up as a can-can girl for Halloween. I didn't need a bra for the costume and it was a real thrill!

Otherwise - my extra icons subscription has expired - but that's okay. I don't really mind, I earn some every once in a while, and I've saved all the ones I deleted.  I'll probably upgrade again sometime in the future.

No air conditioning yet, as far as I know.  And no communication from my landlord, which isn't surprising.  I too avoid making phone calls when I know the person answering will be a bitch.  I am keeping track of my gas purchases, mileage, and the $16.6666 I pay for every day's rent.  If he starts trying to charge me full price again "because the mold has been fixed" I will raise SO MUCH HELL.  Brent wants me to look for another apartment.  I want to as well, but good lord.  It was so damned hard this summer I finally gave up.  There's virtually no place that will allow pets any more. And I still want to stay within Scarlett's school district, an issue which Brent doesn't fully understand.

The cat's are at mom's today.  They've been hidden under various furniture since we arrived, coming out when they see me, and clinging to my legs.  They glance up warily at the ceiling if a fan is on. Poor nervous little things.  Suzi is biting Mitzi's head off if she comes near, so they don't even have each other for comfort.   I need to call about them.

I also need to do some work. Dammit.
mynewplace: (brain candy)

1. Who is your best friend?   Brent is now.  I've traditionally had one "best friend" at a time.  Leigh runs a close second, because I talk to her about EVERYthing.  The only thing really missing is the running around. We're both pretty busy.

2. Why did you become friends?  With Brent it was because we had so much in common and we made each other laugh.  We knew the same jokes, were raised in the same religion AND region, liked the same music and were/are both sensualists.  With Leigh it was because we just "clicked".  We had a couple of interesting things in common and just started talking. And talking and talking and talking.

3. How did you meet?  I've known Brent for almost ten years.  We began our conversation when I realized he was a writer and asked him about it. He gave me a cd of his music, and I was hooked.  With Leigh - a mutual acquaintance introduced us.

4. Why have you stayed friends?  In both cases we know the value of what we have. We appreciate the ability to speak freely, whine, bitch and moan, and the frequent laughter.

5. How long (realistically) do you think you'll be friends?   I hope forever.  I've hoped that before, but I'm learning with each friendship.

This will probably have to be two entries. I'm a member of 40-something, and OMG it's flooded now that it's in the spotlight.  It's nice that we've got loads of new members, but every single ONE of them is posting, and posting again, and then others post to copy that post, and its a bit tiresome. I guess that's awful of me to complain, but I think I liked it better when people just responded to posts, with links to their own journals.
The 40-something group is currently doing a meme regarding your life in sevens, or eights, or whathave you. I like that idea, so I'm going to give it a shot.  There are a lot of references in here to other posts I've made, but I'm at work. I don't have time to do the linkage right now.

This is an interesting mememememe:  How would you describe me to a perfect stranger? I'll screen comments in case you want to answer.

Am feeling a bit sexually needy these days.  It's been a while. And that's all I have to say about that, Forrest.

I have salmon at home to cook for dinner. I saw a yummy-looking dill cream sauce recipe this week, but I don't know if I want to try it. I did buy some fresh dill tho - and lots of fresh veggies.  Mushrooms are always on the menu for Brent - they're tasty, easy, and he adores them. Plus they are a great source of potassium for both of us, we've both been known to have leg cramps. I'm looking forward to dinner.

I'm also looking forward to the weekend. He'll be playing, I think.  Scarlett will be home Saturday morning so I'll go to mom's to help them pack Scarlett's stuff for camp. She goes to camp Sunday morning.  I don't know if I'll get her the following weekend when she comes home. That's the weekend Brent is moving so I'll probably need to go help unpack or something. I don't know.

That is also the weekend of my mother's family reunion.  Mom and I are going to get Scarlett as early as we can Saturday so she can attend. That also means I won't be helping move Saturday morning. I won't be free until early afternoon.  I need to tell him this today if I can remember.  I won't be doing any heavy lifting anyway, so I won't be much use Saturday morning.

I always enjoy the family reunion. My mom's mother was a Lemon, and we have a lot of fun with that - buying door prizes with lemons on them, making lots of lemon flavored food - and lots of SOUTHERN flavored food - and lots of FOOD.....  We sing and catch up and it's crazy loud. And the BOOBS! You should see the boobs.

Two busy weekends.  When am I going to rest this stiff neck?  I don't have any idea.

The rules: Each person tagged gives 7 random facts about themselves. Those tagged need to write in their blogs the 7 facts, as well as the rules of the game. You need to tag 7 others and list their names on your blog. You have to leave those you plan on tagging a note in their comments so they know that they have been tagged and to read your blog. Haven't done this for a while so here goes:

1. The table and chairs I use in my dining room originally belonged to my parents, during my mother's FIRST marriage. It's almost as old as I am. It shows no sign of age, but there's paint on the top. I don't mind, I just use a table cloth. My daughter was also conceived in the same bed my mother and father owned during their first marriage.

2. I collect glass eggs. can't resist them, really, have an obsessive need to touch them when I see them in a store. I have eight.

3. I hear baby birds on my doorstep. So do Mitzi & Suzi. I hope they're safely away from my door when I finally leave this afternoon. I'm DYING to peek outside the door. (I peeked. There are four, and they're already fully feathered. OMG!CUTE!)

4. I have a pair of foxes who live in the woods behind my house. Neither is afraid to come out during the day, and the female is remarkably bold. She's come within five feet of me in the field out back.

5. The only reason I really took nude pictures of myself was to figure out if other people thought I was pretty, and to put myself on the market. Now that I'm off the market, I haven't had as much desire to take the pictues. i'm also reluctant to force Brent's hand in taking them, and he doesn't seem that interested in doing so. Which kinda pisses me off. lol

6. I'd rather scrub a toilet than do dishes.

7. Because of the church I was raised in, I never learned to dance. I hate dancing because I feel like an idiot, and that's to be avoided at all costs. I also knew all the words to the entire soundtrack of The Sound of Music before I ever saw the movie - because Disney always showed it on Sunday nights. That was church night, unless my fever was high enough for me to be delirious.

Like [personal profile] padiwackI don't want to tag anyone. It's a free for all, I hope you'll participate!

A brief meme from [profile] almsthvn.  I like this one.

1. My username is ____ because ____.
2. My journal is titled ____ because ____.
3. My subtitle is ____ because ____.
4. My friends page is called ____ because ____.
5. My default userpic is ____ because ____.

Geez people! What a mess I left here this morning.

1. My username is sapphirescarlet because that was my online identity at another webpage. I used this journal to work on fan fiction I was creating.
2. My journal is titled "Can Anybody Find Me?" because sometimes I hide within myself, and need someone to draw me out.
3. My subtitle is "Somebody To Love" because I am.
4. My friends page is called "Find Me Somebody To Love" because that's what LJ is to me, people to love.
I need to add here that of course all these are taken from the song by Queen "Somebody to Love". I had the lyrics on my user info for a long time, but they took up too much space. I heavily identify with that song, and also with "Play The Game". I need to put "Somebody to Love" on my sidebar.
5. My default userpic is a full moon over rolling hills because it's West Virginia to me. So it's home, and it's a nice one when I'm between identities. (which is how I feel right now)
